What a No Call No Show Means and What Happens Next

What a No Call No Show (NCNS) is, when it happens, and the consequences if it occurs.

Updated this week

✨ Overview

A No Call No Show (NCNS) is a serious attendance issue because clients rely on confirmed Talent to show up as scheduled. Understanding what counts as an NCNS — and how to avoid one — helps protect your ability to keep working through Ideal Flex Work.

This article explains what a NCNS is, common situations that cause it, and what happens if one occurs.

🚫 What Counts as a No Call No Show

A No Call / No Show occurs if all of the following apply:

  • You do not arrive for a confirmed gig, and

  • You do not cancel the gig in the app, and

  • The shift goes unworked or unfilled because you did not attend

Important to know:

  • Sending a message does not cancel a gig

  • Only canceling in the app counts as an official cancellation

If you cannot work a shift for any reason, canceling in the app — even at the last minute — is always better than not canceling at all.

You can cancel your shift up to the same hour as the shift start time.

If you do not clock in within one hour after the shift start, the shift is marked as a No Show.

⚠️ Common Situations That Lead to a No Call No Show

A No Call No Show (NCNS) may occur if:

  • You forget about a confirmed shift

  • You oversleep or lose track of time

  • Transportation issues prevent you from arriving and the gig is not canceled

  • You assume messaging the client or using Team Chat is enough

If something unexpected happens, take action in the app immediately.

📉 What Happens If You Get a No Call No Show

No Call No Show events are tracked within a rolling 90-day period.

  • First NCNS within 90 days

    • Results in a suspension

  • Second NCNS within 90 days

    • Results in termination from the platform

Because of the impact on clients, NCNS consequences are more severe than other attendance issues.

🛡️ How to Avoid a No Call No Show

You can prevent NCNS issues by:

  • Confirming only gigs you’re confident you can work

  • Setting reminders for upcoming shifts

  • Canceling in the app as soon as you know you can’t attend

Canceling late may still affect reliability, but it avoids a No Call No Show.

🤝 Help & Next Steps

If you believe an No Call No Show was applied in error:

  • Gather any documentation you have

  • Submit an Exception Request through the app

If you are unsure what to do in the moment, cancel in the app first, then reach out for help.
