How to Submit an Exception Request for an Attendance Infraction

If you receive an attendance infraction and believe something outside your control affected your shift, you may submit an exception request for review.

Updated this week

✨ Overview

Attendance penalties are applied automatically based on system rules. An exception request is the only way to explain what happened and ask for a review.

🤖 Why Attendance Penalties Are Applied Automatically

When a confirmed gig is missed, late, or canceled:

  • Penalties are applied based on timing and history

  • The system does not review intent or personal circumstances

  • Skipping cancellation does not prevent penalties and may increase impact

An exception request allows a human review when something unexpected occurs.

🧠 When an Exception Request May Be Appropriate

You may submit an exception request if:

  • A technical issue affected your attendance or clock-in

  • An emergency or serious delay occurred

  • Transportation or weather disruptions prevented arrival

  • You followed instructions but something went wrong on site

Exception requests must be submitted within 72 hours of the scheduled gig.

📲 How to Submit an Exception Request

Submit your request directly in the Ideal Flex Work app:

  1. Open the app and tap your Profile (photo icon).

  2. Open the Infraction Notice shown on your profile or notifications.

  3. Tap Submit Exception.

  4. Complete the form:

    • Explain what happened in clear, honest words

    • Attach supporting documents if available

  5. Tap Submit.

If you don’t see the option to submit:

Message Talent Support in the app with your explanation and documents.

📎 What to Include With Your Request

Clear documentation helps the review team understand your situation faster.

Helpful examples include:

  • Medical or emergency documents

  • Transit delay or weather screenshots

  • Tow or repair receipts

  • Messages or confirmation from an on-site manager

  • App screenshots showing technical issues

⏳ What Happens After You Submit

  • Requests are reviewed by the Talent Relations team

  • Reviews usually take up to 24-72 hours

  • Decisions are notified in the app once review is complete

Submitting an exception request does not guarantee a change. Each case is reviewed individually.

❌ Common Reasons Exception Requests Are Denied

Requests may be denied when:

  • A gig was canceled for a better-paying opportunity

  • Cancellation happened very close to the start time

  • The same reason is used repeatedly

  • Documentation is missing or unclear

  • Gig details (location, timing, attire) were not reviewed before confirming

⚠️ Important to Know

  • Exception requests are meant for unexpected situations, not routine issues

  • Repeated infractions may still affect account standing

  • Providing false or misleading information may impact review outcomes
