🔵 Getting Invited to Gigs

When one of our clients needs coverage, they create a booking in the Dayforce Flex Work client app. Once that booking is live, our Empathic Intelligence (we call her MA — our matching algorithm) builds a talent pool of gig workers whose skills, availability, and performance history best match what the client needs.

After the pool is created, MA sends invites to matched talent, starting with those whose availability best aligns with the client’s needs.

Most client bookings only require one or two people, so gigs can get claimed quickly once invites go out.

The higher your MA score, the higher you sit in the talent pool — meaning you’ll be among the first to receive invitations when new gigs become available.

💡 How Your MA Score Works

Your MA score increases over time based on your activity, performance, and how well your availability matches client bookings:

  • Set accurate availability: When your listed hours align with a booking, your MA score gets a small boost — helping you receive invites sooner.

  • Be on time and reliable: Punctual attendance at every shift strengthens your score.

  • Earn positive ratings: Great client feedback improves your standing in future matches.

  • Stay active: Working more gigs raises your visibility and helps you appear in talent pools more often.

  • ⚠️ If a client rates you as “Never,” your MA score will decrease and you won’t receive future invites from that client.

Because gigs depend on client demand, Ideal Flex Work can’t guarantee steady or recurring shifts.
Staying active, keeping your availability accurate, and maintaining high performance will help you get invited sooner when gigs are available.

🗓️ Setting Your Availability

You can set your availability in two ways within the Ideal Flex Work app:

  1. General Availability – Use this for your regular weekly schedule (for example, “I’m available Mondays to Wednesdays, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.”).

  • This automatically repeats week to week — no need to update it constantly.

  1. Specific Date Availability – Use this for short-term updates or special cases (for example, “I’m available November 7–10 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m.”).

Keeping both types up to date helps MA match you more accurately and improves how early you’re invited to gigs.

🔵 Remember: Your availability settings only affect the order in which you’re invited, not whether you’re invited at all.

Managing Your Shift Hours

Each booking has fixed hours defined by the client, and full-shift commitment is required.

If you can’t complete a shift you’ve accepted, please cancel as soon as possible through the Ideal Flex Work app.

This allows MA to quickly reassign the booking to another available worker — keeping things smooth for both clients and talent.

Accepting Last-Minute Gigs

Accepting last-minute gigs is a great way to increase your opportunities and boost your MA score.

If you accept one, please follow these steps:

  1. Post in the Active Gigs “Team Chat.”
Let the client know your ETA so they’re aware of your arrival time.
    You can post:

  2. “I just picked up this last-minute gig invite and my ETA is [xx:xx].”

  3. If you cannot make it within 1–1.5 hours of the scheduled start time, please do not accept the gig.

  4. Message the Talent Support team.
Use the in-app chat to let our team know you’ve accepted a last-minute gig and share your ETA.
Providing a realistic ETA helps us confirm your arrival with the client quickly and ensure a smooth experience.

We understand last-minute bookings can be challenging.
Clients may post these gigs when coverage is needed urgently or when another talent cancels their shift at the last minute.

Your flexibility and quick response are always appreciated! 💙 If you are delayed and the client approves your updated ETA, make sure to be fully prepared upon arrival to deliver excellent service. Proper communication and setting accurate expectations ensure smooth experiences for everyone involved.

FAQs

Why aren’t I getting many gig invites?
The hospitality industry is seasonal, and there may be times of the year when gig volume slows down.
When clients post new bookings, MA builds a talent pool and sends invites to matched talent, starting with those whose availability best aligns with the client’s needs.

Your availability doesn’t determine if you’ll be invited — but it does affect how soon you’re invited when your skills and schedule align with a booking.

Sometimes, clients post last-minute gigs when coverage is needed urgently or when another talent cancels their shift at the last minute.
These are great opportunities to boost your activity and MA score — and being quick to accept them can increase your chances of getting invited earlier in the future.

By keeping your profile updated, maintaining high performance, and checking the app regularly, you’ll improve your chances of securing gigs as new opportunities appear.

💬 Final Note

We know gigs can go quickly — especially since most client bookings only need one or two workers. Keeping your availability accurate, staying active, and maintaining a strong MA score all help ensure you’re among the first to receive invitations when new gigs become available..
